The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director, Financial Control.
The job of Assistant Director - Financial Control, is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the direction and coordination of accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting activities; providing information and serving as a resource to others; and assisting in the coordination and execution of the annual audit.
Analyzes and reviews a wide variety of financial information and data for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy of the data and availability of documentation, and ensuring adherence with established District, State and Federal policies and regulatory guidelines.
Analyzes and compiles a wide variety of financial information for the purpose of identifying potential budget variances, compiling statistical information, developing procedures, and conforming to established financial practices and regulatory requirements.
Assists in the development and implementation of internal control strategies and financial information and reporting systems for the purpose of developing action plans relative to internal control needs, ensuring availability and accuracy of data, and complying with established regulatory requirements.
Assists with the coordination of the annual audit for the purpose of ensuring that requested supporting documentation is provided accurately and timely, conveying information, and complying with established financial, legal and/or administrative requirements.
Assists in the review and preparation of annual financial statements and related schedules for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and ensuring compliance with established accounting practices.
Compiles and analyzes a wide variety of financial data for the purpose of the development of financial action plans, performance measures, budgets, and forecasts.
Develops, recommends and implements policies, procedures and/or actions regarding internal control strategy for the purpose of providing direction and/or decision making, complying with established financial, legal and/or administrative requirements, and ensuring internal control compliance to protect District assets.
Maintains a wide variety of financial information, files and records (e.g. investment, debt, bond records, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
Monitors account balances and related financial activity (e.g. month-end close process, year-end close process, and chart of accounts, federal programs, grants, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, related revenues are generated, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices, policies, and procedures are followed.
Participates in meetings, trainings, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
Reconciles a wide variety of financial data for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established accounting practices.
Responds to inquiries from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of facilitating communication and/or providing guidance among several parties; providing information and/or referral for addressing inquiry.
Review audit recommendations for the purpose of developing and executing corrective action plans.
