The Director of Finance at The Care Service is a leadership role with responsibility for all aspects the accounting operations. This position supports every area of the agency’s operations including Operations, Administration, Programs and Development. A successful candidate will become a key promotor of the agency’s mission to “serve those in crisis and to prevent homelessness and hunger”.
Requirements
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA preferred.
Non-profit accounting experience is highly desired.
Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft 365 applications.

Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing with people within and outside of the organization including but not limited to co-workers, direct reports, donors, clients, funders (both public and private) and the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Essential Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis both inside and outside of the agency.
Budgeting and Forecasting for the fiscal year as well as individual grants and programs.
General Ledger data entry, reconciliations, reviews and analyses.
Analyze and reconcile payroll submissions and reports.
Management of cash flow.
Attend and participate in quarterly Governing Board meetings
Schedule, plan and lead quarterly Finance Committee meetings
Engage in professional development in non-profit finance, GAAP and grant compliance.
Assist in the annual independent financial audit including work papers, schedules and reconciliations.
Assist fellow directors as needed regarding financial information.
Participate in leadership meetings, reaccreditation, organizational planning and cross-departmental collaboration.
Seek methods to improve efficiency, integrity and effectiveness of the finance department and the agency as a whole.
Professional interaction with a variety of stakeholders including but not limited to Archdiocese of St. Louis, the governing board, clients, funders, bankers, donors, landlords and vendors.
Supervision and evaluation of a direct report and volunteers.
